Some people (a certain news by the name of Fox) would say the Obama administration wants to "Spread the Wealth." They may be right. I like to say with any extreme political argument there's always a little truth and the rest is usually misrepresentation (little white lies).

This is America, we rely on free economic markets to determine supply, demand, prices, among other factors. However, while this is the current operational structure and has been this way in America for roughly 100 years depending on what source you look at. While this system has been in place for quite some time, this is not an excuse for just accepting things the way they are.

Don't get me wrong, we shouldn't change just for the sake of changing, but few would argue that there are compelling reasons to change. If you don't believe this, try exercising your empathetic skills. Before quickly dismissing segments of our society that do not benefit from the current system stand in their shoes.

Really get in these people's shoes. Feel the soles. Are their shoes comfortable? How's the support? Is the arch of the shoe in tact? Before judging the less fortunate of our great country we really need to understand where others are coming from.

For instance, take the largest American corporations and the people that run them. It's perfectly alright for corporations to turn a profit. This is how they expand, hire more people, innovate new technology, offer new products, etc. However, we must ask what is ethical, not just what is logical. It may be logical to pay someone millions of dollars for a highly important job like running the company, but is it ethical? If top level managers would do their job for significantly less ($750,000 instead of 10 million for example) while freeing up their salaries for lower level employees would that be so bad?

I like to compare it to the NFL. The NFL has a disproportional salary for their top players to the lower skilled players. However, it didn't used to be this way. It used to be that most made similar wages and the top players would make a bit more when the league started out. My point is that the world has changed, as far as how people are compensated for work that they do, and this has been changed arguably for the worse.

The situation America finds itself in today is dire. The middle class is quickly eroding. The 1% highest earners are taking more of a share and the middle and lower classes are taking less. People are stretching dollars to the breaking point. People are scared about their jobs. People are uncertain. People are suffering.

People of uncommonly well means need to stand up and have a voice. They need to recognize their powerful position in this society and have to be vigilant not to abuse it. It's true one of the great parts about America is that if you work hard your salary can reflect that, but what is the true cost of such income disparity.

I'm just saying we should support our fellow man and woman more, not pretend like they're not there. That's what America should be.
